Traumatic Brain Injury or TBI is a specific type of brain injury caused by a blow to the head or violent shaking. It is not used to describe babies born with brain injury and does not include brain injury that occurs during birth.

A traumatic brain injury can result in disabilities that affect physical movement as well as how a person behaves or thinks. Examples of diminished capacity due to traumatic brain injury may include:
